Thursday 2nd October was National Poetry Day. To mark the occasion, the Hanbury department organized a fantastic visit from poet Ed Boxall! Ed delivered a lovely day, full of poetry-themed activities, interactive props, fabrics and instruments. The department got together to enjoy an interactive song filled assembly with plenty of call and response moments and opportunities to join in! The young people loved his poem-story, ‘Carried Away with the Carnival’, as he moved from student to student with a big handmade art book filled with giant, colourful, bold images. The sessions encouraged students to develop their own poetry skills and here are some fabulous examples which kept everyone engaged! What an amazing day exploring poetry, language and song Stories from Chailey Future Poets The young people were inspired by Ed to create their own poems.
