Science Week Brings Sensory Discovery to Handbury

Children in Handbury enjoyed an exciting week of sensory‑focused science activities as part of this year’s Science Week in school.

The classroom was filled with energy as children explored a range of hands‑on experiences designed to spark curiosity and build confidence. One highlight was a catapult powered by an adapted switch, which sent a ball flying across the room!

Children also popped bubble wrap, explored sand, and experimented with a variety of textures. New scents were introduced too, offering opportunities to discover different smells and respond in their own way.

Sensory play sits at the heart of learning at Chailey Heritage Foundation. It gives children the chance to explore freely, discover what they enjoy, and connect with the world around them. Weeks like this show just how powerful sensory experiences can be.

Science Week was a great success in Handbury!
