Straw bale community trainingStudents and staff from the University of Brighton have swapped their hi-tech studies for rural skills, during a training workshop this week using straw bales to support the build of The Bradbury Den.The Bradbury Den is a new learning and community space designed to bring young people of all abilities together. It will be a unique space where the young people at Chailey Heritage can learn alongside local schools and other community groups. Read more about our collaboration here "Bale-ing" FunDelivery incoming! The Hartley Quinn Wilson team co-ordinated their delivery of 300 bale stacks, transitioning them from the large delivery wagon to the density testing area and finally into The Bradbury Den.The team sorted the piles into 3 sections; Soft, Medium and Hard in order to get the process ready of building the natural walls! Roof GardenDelivery from the mountains! Mountain flowers are currently sitting on top of the Bradbury Den roof; this is so that they can survive all weather conditions and rain!An extra-long crane came to lift the grass beds up on top of the roof to be laid out. In time these flowers will grow, and we will have a garden roof.
