bench and flowers in garden of celebration

Welcome to the Garden of Celebration

The Garden of Celebration, a bespoke sensory garden within the grounds of Chailey Heritage Foundation, provides a permanent location where we can remember all those that have enriched our community – whether that be as a pupil in the school, a young adult, a volunteer, staff member or through their dedicated support.

Celebrating lives

This very special garden, designed by students from Plumpton College and garden designer, Caroline Scaramanga, provides a scenic area for people to remember and reflect.

The design is completely accessible, offering various spaces for wheelchairs and accompanied seating, and a private space for contemplation, surrounded by textural, colourful planting, plants that have been chosen to bring colour to the space all year round.

The garden is available to everyone onsite at any time to enjoy and use and opens to the wider community on special occasions throughout the year.

Golden apple ceremony

Our golden apple ceremonies see loved ones hang brass apples on the beautiful apple tree sculpture. Each apple is engraved with words to celebrate the lives of those connected with the charity.

This apple tree sculpture is a nod to our founder, Grace Kimmins who, in 1930, launched the Golden Apple Appeal.
