As a Riding Volunteer, you will be play a vital part in our hippotherapy programme. Hippotherapy is a type of physiotherapy that uses the motion of the horse to help to work on specific muscle patterns, helping improve stability and balance of young people with complex disabilities.What you will doPrepare the horses for each session; grooming, tacking up and warming upSet up the outdoor ride areaSupport the young person on the horse from the side at ground levelIf desired, lead the horse during sessions, including controlling the horse during mount and dismountFollow directions from the PhysiotherapistEngage the young person in games/activities on the horseWhat you will bringEnthusiasm for supporting young people with disabilitiesEnjoy being around horsesLike to be outside regardless of the weatherAwareness and compliance with all aspects of health and safety in relation to your working environmentWhat we will provideBe part of a friendly and supportive teamInduction training and other learning relevant to your roleSupport through your named contact and the Volunteer CoordinatorReasonable expensesTrainingSafeguarding, Data Protection, Equality and Diversity, Manual Handling and the Riding Training (including Manual Handling) Interested in joining our team of volunteers?
