Director of Resources

What’s your role at Chailey Heritage Foundation and what does it involve?

I’m the Director of Resources at Chailey Heritage Foundation. In simple terms, I’m responsible for making sure all the “behind the scenes” parts of the organisation work well — things like finance, estates, IT, assistive technology, health and safety, data protection and a few other bits besides. I really enjoy the variety of the role!

Could you share a little bit about your career history?

I spent 18 years working in the prison service in a range of roles, mostly in finance, and qualified as an accountant in 2009. Before joining Chailey Heritage Foundation I was Director of Finance at a special needs multi-academy trust. Throughout my career I’ve always enjoyed working in organisations that are trying to make a real difference, which is what brought me to Chailey.

What’s your favourite thing to do outside work?

Most of my spare time revolves around my two kids, who are 12 and 9, so I spend a lot of time acting as their taxi driver. I enjoy running, playing golf (badly), and on Saturdays you’ll often find me refereeing my 9-year-old’s football matches (the kids are great, it’s the parents I need to watch out for!)

Can you sum up in one sentence what makes Chailey Heritage Foundation a great place to work?

Chailey has a real sense of community, and what makes it special is seeing up close the difference everyone’s hard work makes to the lives of the children and young people here.
