Skippers Hill Pupils Enjoy Hands-On Learning at Patchwork Farm

Children from Skippers Hill Manor Prep School recently enjoyed a special visit to Chailey Heritage Foundation's Patchwork Farm and Bradbury Den, taking part in a day of creativity, learning, and outdoor exploration.

A small group of pupils joined children and young people from Chailey in the Bradbury Den, where they worked together to create bug hotels using natural materials collected from the farm. Using wood, sheep's wool and pinecones, the students designed homes for insects while learning about wildlife and the importance of local habitats.

The activity showcased just one of the many engaging experiences that take place in the Bradbury Den, where resources gathered from Patchwork Farm help bring learning to life through hands-on, nature-based activities.

The visit also gave the Skippers Hill pupils the opportunity to experience life on a working farm. During their time at Patchwork Farm, they helped care for the resident tortoises by giving them a cooling bath before meeting the farm's other animals, including the sheep.

The day provided a valuable opportunity for children from both settings to learn together, connect with nature and gain a better understanding of the environment around them.

We'd like to thank the pupils and staff from Skippers Hill Manor Prep School for visiting us. We hope to welcome them back to Chailey again soon.
