The Bradbury Den - a new space for learning, nature and community.Children and young people across Sussex and beyond can benefit from our exciting new learning space, following the official opening of The Bradbury Den.Our innovative new building, located at our much-loved therapeutic Patchwork Farm, was officially opened on 3, June by our Patron, HRH The Duchess of Gloucester.Designed to bring young people closer to nature, The Bradbury Den offers a unique indoor and outdoor learning environment within a single space, allowing activities to take place all year round. The Den is open to local schools and community groups, creating opportunities for children and young people of all abilities to explore the natural world together.Visitors will be able to discover more about biodiversity and the environment, learn how a working farm relies on teamwork and cooperation, and get up close to some of Patchwork Farm's resident animals – including guinea pigs, donkeys, goats and tortoises. At the heart of The Bradbury Den is a commitment to inclusion. The space has been created to encourage blended sessions where pupils from mainstream and SEND schools can learn alongside one another, building friendships, understanding and confidence through shared experiences. The opening marks the culmination of several months of construction in partnership with architects BakerBrown and builders Hartley Quinn Wilson. Sustainability has been central to the design, with the low-carbon structure built using locally sourced materials to minimise its environmental impact and create a space that will serve the community for generations to come. The Bradbury Den represents an important step in our vision of creating stronger community connections and expanding opportunities for children and young people to learn, play and thrive together.By opening Patchwork Farm to an even wider audience, our aim is to inspire curiosity, foster inclusion and create meaningful experiences that help every child feel connected – to nature, to each other and to their local community.Interested in bringing your school or community group to The Bradbury Den?
