LSC Games – Adapting technologies to champion independence!
We have recently added a kurling stone and ball release switch device to our LSC Games sessions. This bespoke technology enables many of our LSC customers to be more independent in controlling the release of the ball or kurling stone.
The session covers a range of different games from table cricket to skittles, rounders and mini circuit sessions. All the sessions are fun and competitive and harbour a sense of community!
LSC Games is a great place to catch up with friends and enjoy time together! The sessions have a mixture of Hub, Futures and external LSC customers all interacting and trying new things together. This creates a friendly social atmosphere for everyone involved, with new friendships blossoming along the way.
The LSC worked closely with our on-site engineer, Dr. Martin Langner, and the Assistive Technology department, to adapt our equipment to make them more accessible. For example, the team worked on the ball and kurling release mechanism so they could be more easily be controlled by the young people via switches giving them more independence and control on their gaming session!
We are excited to continue bringing adapted technologies to the LSC customers.
