Lucie

Lucie is 21 and has recently graduated from Oak Grove College. She loves to be on the go and always has a big smile on her face. She loves wearing colourful outfits, especially pink! Swimming and watching Disney movies are also some of her favourite things to do.

Since leaving college, Lucie has joined the LSC (Leisure and Skills Centre) and has been a regular in our cooking & music classes. She finds listening to people singing very relaxing….and sometimes very funny!

Lucie is keen to try new things and always joins in the various sessions and events organised by the LSC. During a recent fairytale event, Lucie pursued her interest in drama, something she first developed at Oak Grove College while playing the role of Tinkerbell in their production of Peter Pan. It is fantastic that she can continue this passion at the LSC and has become a regular in their drama sessions!

Rebound therapy is another favourite of Lucie’s. It allows Lucie to have fun out of the confinements of her chair while working different muscle groups she would not normally use.

Lucie’s Mum told us: “It is great that Lucie has somewhere to go where she can access such great facilities and take part in so many varied activities. She loves it at Chailey!”

At home Lucie has 24-hour constant support from her amazing care team, two of her sisters, Hannah and Lauren, and her brilliant parents. Always having someone by her side means she can stay active and attend sessions and events that she loves!

Between LSC sessions you will regularly find Lucie having a snack in GK’s café or playing bowling with her support workers or even attending the theatre.

Having such a close-knit care team is a bonus for Lucie as it allows her to explore her passions and dreams with a solid community behind her! One thing Lucie has become fond of is making YouTube videos with her support worker Sophie. Together they create content about Lucie’s day, trips away, adventures and accessibility highlights to share with others.

Lucie is excited to continue finding new classes and activities to try at the LSC. Very soon, she is going to try out the specialist gym! Whatever she does, Lucie is always smiling and is keen to have a chat with all the new friends she makes along the way.
