Thirteen young people attended the week-long Holiday Club this summer. There was a busy timetable of activities and everyone had a lot of fun.
On Monday, the activity was Fun at the Fair, involving games such as Hook-a-Duck and a Hoop-Toss. On Tuesday, there was Sensory Yoga in the Dream Centre. Everyone absolutely loved this session. The children had the opportunity to get out of their chairs and onto the mats and had 1:1 time with their support workers using lots of different sensory objects.
On Wednesday, the young people played slingshot games. It was a really messy session involving cream pies and wet sponges! The young people particularly enjoyed picking which staff to get wet and cream! In the afternoon, there was a sensory dance session. The children enjoyed feeling the music and experiencing different ways to express themselves through dance, it was lots of fun and everybody just let loose!
Another messy session took place on Thursday when the children made slime and lava lamps. The slime was a HUGE hit! The children picked the colours they wanted and played with them for hours! In the afternoon, the children went off for a treasure hunt around site, and once they had finished they had to work out what all the letters spelt. The answer was YOU HAVE WON A MEDAL! Each child was then given a medal and a certificate for doing so well at the Holiday Club.
To finish the week off, on Friday some of the guinea pigs and tortoises from Patchwork Farm came to see everyone - the young poeple always love a visit from the animals!! Finally, there was the SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER silent disco, which the children absolutely loved.
Thank you to all the children and young people who attended, and the brilliant staff who helped make this summer's Holiday Club such a success.
The government put together a scheme to support schools to run summer holiday clubs in 2021 due to COVID. Chailey Heritage Foundation have been awarded £4,449 to support with the cost of running the holiday club!
