Our Online Auction is Back

06 October 2022

After the success of last year’s online auction, this November we are back with even more amazing auction lots donated by our wonderful supporters.

Between the 4th and 13th of November you can bid online for a range of exciting lots including an indulgent overnight stay for two at Horsted Place Hotel, a trip for 2 up Brighton’s i360, 4 tickets to the LV County Championship or Royal London Cup Fixtures in Hove next year and so much more!  All money raised through the auction will go towards our Aquamovers programme.

What is Aquamovers?

The Aquamovers programme is a fun and dynamic weekly group for parents/guardians with pre-school aged children with complex needs.

During each session, our Specialist Paediatric and Aquatic Physiotherapist provides physiotherapy, whilst also giving practical support to parents and carers. Assisted by a Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Practitioner, each session starts with activities out of the water including ‘Sing and Sign’, with action songs such as ‘Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’. This is followed by some time for the children to play on mats, often focussing on certain motor skills to help those with limited mobility move their arms and legs. Lastly, they move on to play and exercise in our onsite hydrotherapy pool. Given that children’s swimming sessions can be less accessible to those with disabilities, this provides a rare opportunity for the children to experience exercise in a swimming pool environment.

Aquamovers aims to:

• give parents and carers the opportunity to support their children with learning to move and communicate through play.

• give parents the confidence to help their children explore and develop their movement abilities, and speech and language skills.

• introduce families of disabled children to aquatic physiotherapy in our hydrotherapy pool.

• provide disabled children with cardiovascular exercise in a supportive environment.
