Holly from Hanbury 2 has begun some work experience at the onsite farm with the miniature Shetland pony NicNac. Holly will be learning about caring for NicNac by working on grooming, hoof picking, taking his blanket on and off and leading him by the reins. Holly will be working alongside Lesley Barcock, the farm manager and her team in her time with NicNac.
Patchwork Farm is our on-site therapeutic care farm, providing unique learning experiences for all young people at Chailey Heritage Foundation. Our farm residents include pigs, pygmy goats, chickens, geese, tortoises, sheep, guinea pigs, ducks and a recent addition, a shetland pony. The farm offers a calming, outside space where young people can enjoy spending time with the animals as well as providing benefits such as helping to build confidence and to develop language and communication skills.
The cost of running our therapy farm has to be funded entirely through voluntary donations. If you would like to support the farm, here are just a few ways that you can help. Click here for more information.
