This week, work got under way in the re-development of St Martin’s garden.
Contractors from Playcubed, part of the Valley Provincial Group, have been busy in preparing for the new development by removing everything in the existing garden, including the artificial grass, and dismantling the thatched hut. The hut is being repurposed, and will find a new home on Patchwork Farm, our onsite therapeutic care farm.
Re-development of St Martin’s garden has been funded by donations, and was the subject of last year’s Christmas Challenge from The Big Give. This year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge will be supporting Patchwork Farm.
The new garden will feature a sensory bridge with coloured panels to walk or drive over in a power wheelchair, accessible musical instruments, a performing stage which can also double as a teaching area, and raised flower beds which will allow the children to plant their own fruit, vegetables and plants.
Depending on the weather, Playcubed hope to have the new garden completed within the next two weeks. Keep an eye out in the future for further updates on this exciting project.
